A ANUMBER of sporting events will take place in the west of the county in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Sport Relief.

From March 19 to 21 there will be a variety of Sport Relief Mile events at each of the Anglia Community Leisure Centres and Mildenhall Swimming Pool.

The Brandon Mile will set off at 11am on Sunday, March 21 from Brandon Remembrance Playing Fields and participants can complete one, three or six miles for their sponsored challenge.

Over the same weekend in Mildenhall, people will be walking, jogging or sprinting their contribution on the Dome Leisure Centre treadmills.

For those who prefer to swim rather than run, people can head to Mildenhall Swimming Pool where they can take part in one, three or six miles on Sunday, March 21 between midday and 2pm. Sponsorship forms are available at the pool.

Leisure operations manager at Brandon Leisure Centre and the Dome in Mildenhall, Nigel Snape, said: “The Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile is here in Forest Heath and it's your time to shine.

“From teeny-tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock there's something for everyone on the big day, whether you do one, three or six miles.

“Best of all, the money you raise by getting sponsored will be used to transform lives forever. So come on, rise to the challenge and be a part of it.”

To take part in any of the events people should decide on a distance, collect as much sponsorship as possible, and complete the walk, jog or run.

Everyone must register to take part. For Brandon and Newmarket entrants must register on the official Sport Relief Mile website www.sportrelief.com or contact the Sport Relief Call Centre on 0300 1235070.
