Students from the Thetford Music Project, a registered charity which holds discounted music lessons for children after school, took part in a scaleathon in a bid to donate as much money as possible to SOS Children's Villages which supports orphaned youngsters across the world.

The group gathered at Queensway Junior School in Thetford and were sponsored to play as many correct scales as they could.

Director of Thetford Music Project, Polly Fenn, said: “The Scalethon was a resounding success and I am so pleased that our contribution will go at least some way to making a difference to the lives of the children who have been affected by the earthquake.”

The group will also begin to hold African drumming sessions on Thursdays between 5pm an d5.30pm. Sessions cost 3.50 and would suit those between nine and 14 who likes drumming and rhythms.
