The members of a fighter jet squadron whose mission has seen them drop more than 1,700 bombs in support of US operations have been reunited with their families at an emotional homecoming.

Crews from the 494th Fighter Squadron returned to RAF Lakenheath on October 9 after being deployed in support of US Central Command operations.

A spokesman for RAF Lakenheath could not confirm where the jets had been deployed to, but said the 494th - known as the Panthers - had carried out 1,651 sorties and dropped more than 1,700 bombs during its mission.
