RAF Honington sees new batch of graduates join the ranks

On the hottest day ever recorded in the UK graduates of TG 5-18 Meiktila Flight donned their full uniforms for graduation at RAF Honington.

Reuniting with their families the 18 gunners celebrated the completion of 20 weeks training learning the basic tactics for air and ground combat, air force protection and live-fire range training.

Reviewing officer, station commander group Captain Radnall, said: "Reflect on this new and very worthwhile career to serve your nation and society.

"You have put a greater cause above your own, be proud of that commitment."

The course is both physically and mentally demanding and the base said it should leave "the successful student with a justifiable sense of pride in their achievement".

The graduates have earned the right to wear the RAF Regiment shoulder-badge, known informally as 'mudguards', and joined the ranks of a unique Corps.
