Power has been restored in High Street in Lakenheath after a lorry has struck some power lines, leaving 543 buildings without power.
Suffolk police were called at 11.12am yesterday after reports that a lorry had brought down some power lines, leaving some wires and a pylon on the path.
A Suffolk police spokeswoman said they had closed the road and contacted UK Power Networks, who had turned the power off in the area.
A UK Power Networks spokeswoman said: “UK Power Networks engineers are working as quickly and as safely as possible to restore supplies to 543 properties in Lakenheath after a lorry brought down overhead power line this morning (Monday).”
The power was restored by 1.44pm yesterday.
A police spokesman added that they remained at the scene for some time to liaise with highways teams over further work.
Diversions were put in place to direct traffic flow around the area.
