‘We’ll seize your car if it’s not insured’ - warning from police

Police have issued a warning to Norfolk motorists to ‘drive legally’ after two cars were seized.

While on patrol in Thetford last night officers seized two cars which were found to have no insurance.

Breckland Police said on Twitter: "PC Harris from Team 5, Thetford, seized two cars last night for having no insurance.

"Between our patrols, responding to incidents, crime enquires and many other policing duties, we will carry out vehicle checks when required. Drive legally."

Police can seized a car if it is being driven by someone who does not have a proper licence or insurance, it is dangerously, illegally or obstructively parked, or broken-down or abandoned.

To get a car back the owner must pay a fee of up-to £200 plus storage of £20 for each day it is held.
