Suffolk police are investigating an allegation of rape after a 21-year-old woman was dragged into a car after she was duped into helping a man with his shopping.

The woman told officers she was in the Tesco car park, London Road, Brandon on Saturday at 2.15pm, when a man in his 60s asked for her help with some heavy bags.

Detectives said when the woman went to help, he threatened her and pushed her into a 4x4 vehicle.

A police spokesman said last night: “The offender then drove her to another location where he subjected her to a serious sexual assault.”

The woman's ordeal lasted for more than three hours. The man returned the woman to Wimbledon Avenue in Brandon at 5.30pm.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, particularly if they were in Tesco's car park who may have seen any suspicious activity between 12pm and 3pm on Saturday, to call Suffolk Police on 01473 613500.
