POLICE in Thetford have launched a crackdown on alcohol related anti-social behaviour throughout summer.
Officers from Thetford Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and response have reminded residents about designated non-drinking zones in the town.
The designated public place (DPP) gives police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) powers to control alcohol consumption within the designated areas in Thetford.
Thetford Sergeant Steve Burke said: “We would like residents in Thetford to enjoy their summer but at the same time to respect others within the community.
“People who are caught drinking alcohol in the street whilst acting in an anti-social manner, can be fined up to 500 and arrested, if they fail to hand over their alcohol when requested to do so by an officer.”
There are four zones in Thetford with the main zone in the town centre and the other three outside shops on the Redcastle Estate, Abbey Estate and Pine Close.
