MORE than 60 youngsters took up their musical instruments in aid of people whose lives were destroyed after last month's earthquake in Haiti.

MORE than 60 youngsters took up their musical instruments in aid of people whose lives were destroyed after last month's earthquake in Haiti.

Thetford Music Project, a registered charity which holds discounted music lessons for children after school, organised the scale-a-thon in a bid to donate as much money as possible to SOS Children's Villages which supports orphaned youngsters across the world.

The group gathered at Queensway Junior School in Thetford and were sponsored to play as many correct scales as they could.

Director of Thetford Music Project, Polly Fenn , said she did not know how much money had been raised yet, but added: “It was a brilliant success.

“I was completely overwhelmed with the response. We even had one teacher who brought his base guitar and took part and played 224 scales. And the drumming teacher put together a piece for the drummer's so they could take part too.”
