Plans for Thetford riverside regeneration to be unveiled

PUBLISHED: 10:31 30 May 2012

People will be able to have their say on a contentious regeneration project to be unveiled in a one-day exhibition in Thetford.

Residents and businesses will be able to find out more about the riverside area in the town which is set to be transformed with shops, cafes, a cinema and hotel.

The scheme, which will follow the relocation of the town’s bus station, currently on the Bridge Street site, to an area between St Nicholas Street and Minstergate, has been objected to by some residents.

The Riverside Regeneration exhibition will be held in a mobile bus in the Bridge Street car park on May 31 between 10am and 8pm when Breckland Council officers and representatives from the design team will be on hand to explain the proposals.

Visitors to the exhibition can complete a questionnaire and their opinions, comments and suggestions will be taken into account as part of the planning process.

All comments received will be considered by officers and elected members, and will form part of a report to the Breckland Council Planning Committee.

For more information about the exhibition or the regeneration project contact Kevin Ward on 01362 656870.
