A photographer who took on the marathon challenge of taking more than 2,000 pictures in just over a day has raised more than £400 for charity.

Gary Maynard, who runs The Studio on Thetford Market Place, saw 343 people through the door as part of a national event which challenged photographers to take 2,012 pictures each of people and pets in just 26 hours.

Some £420 from donations in Thetford will now go to Macmillan Cancer Support. The event as a whole raised more than £8,000 and saw more than 5,000 people and pets take part.

“We in Thetford managed to come fifth place in the whole country in numbers of subjects taking part, so a big well done to every one who came to The Studio to take part, some travelling from as far away as Northamptonshire,” Mr Maynard said.

“We even had Alistair McAlistair a stuffed rabbit who has travelled all over the world and is heading for Everest Base Camp later this year.

“I must also thank all the very generous local businesses who supported us with services as well as donating raffle prizes without wanting anything in return.”

Thetford Olypmic torch-bearer David Pickup also allowed his torch to be used in the photographs.
