A plaque to celebrate one of Norfolk’s most famous sons has been unveiled ahead of a series of events celebrating his legacy.
Mayor Stuart Wright unveiled the plaque and caricature, drawn by artist Nicola Jennings, at the Thomas Paine Hotel to mark 200 years since Paine’s death.
The unveiling comes as the town looks forward to a string of talks in the fourth annual session of the Common Sense Club.
It kicks off on September 27 with a talk on the Living Wage at Thetford Grammar School.
On October 11 Professor John Belchem will give a lecture at the school while on October 25 Radio 4’s Any Questions will visit the Carnegie Rooms.
