A NEW set of priorities have been decided for the Thetford area after a series of meetings with the public.

Antisocial behaviour was highlighted as an overriding issue and at a recent Safer Thetford Action Group (STAG) meeting, police and partner agencies set three priorities for the next three months.

These were; to target alcohol related antisocial behaviour on Painter Street; to combat antisocial behaviour regarding BMX and skateboarding in the Fir Road garage blocks; and to address related antisocial behaviour on the play area between Harriet Martineau Close and Hill House Lane.

Over the past 12 weeks the Thetford Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) tackled antisocial behaviour on the Abbey Estate with high visibility patrols and a leaflet which allows people to note any problems.

This resulted in three motorcycle seizures, with two youths prosecuted for vehicle document offences, and one stolen motorbike was recovered.

Alcohol-related antisocial behaviour and intimidation in Croxton Road area was also addressed, and 39 people were asked to leave the area, two men were issued with fixed penalty notice and a litter bin will now be placed in the area.

The third priority was alcohol-related antisocial behaviour on the Cloverfields estate. Noise monitoring equipment has now been installed and the issue is being monitored.
