Brandon councillor Bill Bishop yesterday opened the doors to a 9,000 sq ft department store in the town as The Original Factory Shop, unveiled its new store.

The store, which has created 20 new jobs, sells men's, ladies and children's fashion, as well as homewares, electricals and toiletries, including a

large selection of branded goods.

Mr Bishop said: “The Original Factory Shop is exactly what Brandon has needed for a long time and after months of hard work it's a great pleasure to finally

see the store open for business.

“Being a small market town, Brandon has often been overlooked by big retailer.

“When The Original Factory Shop showed an interest in Brandon I was determined

to ensure plans came to fruition.

“It's fantastic that we've now attracted a quality store that will really add to the town's retail provision for years to come.”

Area manager at The Original Factory Shop Richard Adams-Murgatroyd, who donated £100 of vouchers to Mr Bishop's chosen charity - the Brandon Day Care Centre, said: “The Brandon store has already had a fantastic response from the local community and we're delighted to be opening in the town.”

Brandon is The Original Factory Shop's 102nd store and adds to the firm's existing twelve stores across East Anglia.
