Students take part in firefighter course
Four teenage students excelled themselves during a six-week firefighter course.
The students, from Mildenhall College Academy, all have special educational needs and took part in the Firebreak course held at Mildenhall Fire Station.
During the sessions they given firefighter uniforms to wear and take part in various activities including learning first aid, hose work and how to rescue people from a smoke filled room.
Andrew Sheldrick, fire liaison officer who ran the course, said: “The students worked well together as a team and their ability to overcome problems was a major factor in them achieving all the tasks assigned to them.”
This the fourth year Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and the academy have collaborated on the Firebreak course.
Parents were invited to a passing out ceremony where the students were presented with certificates for their achievements.
