Mildenhall College Academys year 12 students Tierney Knight and Naseem Khalfi, participated in the Lesson from Auschwitz project, where they learnt about the horrors which took place at the concentration camp during the Second World War. The pair will discuss what they have learnt with their fellow pupils, with Tierney creating a Youtube video describing her experience. She said: Visiting Auschwitz was a hard experience, but one I was very glad to be a part of. Seeing the sight where over a million people died was very harrowing and hard considering we only had a day to process everything, but at the end of the day I was proud of myself and glad I had the chance. The pair were also able to meet and talk to Holocaust survivor Zigi Shipper. The cost of transport for the visit was funded by Mildenhall Rotary Club as part of the Fred Dannatt Memorial Scholarship Award.
