A Second World War aircraft hangar could be given a new lease of life after plans were submitted to transform it into storage.
Based on the former RAF Methwold airfield it was created at the start of the 1940s to store aircraft during the war effort.
After the airfield was disbanded in 1964 it was reverted to farming use however the hanger remained. It was used by Favor Parker Grain Mills from the 1970s till the early 2000s to store grain from the mill at Stoke Ferry.
Owners J W Spence Farms has not needed to use the hangar since 2018 and were approached by a company to store wood. Planning permission has been submitted to King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council to transform the hangar into B8 storage and distribution meaning more can be stored there and a business can run out of it.
If approved the hangar would be maintained and insured.
