Spend the start of your new year discovering the past by trailing the hidden heritage of High Lodge in Thetford Forest.

The Forestry Commission has been awarded £610,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund to make a new trail into the forest, and an important part of the project is to carry out research into the history of High Lodge, which has never been done before.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in the research in a number of free events taking place this year.

Some include investigations into the circular ditch and banks of Horseshoe Pit and the 600-year-old warrening industry at High Lodge.

Discover the burial mounds and help find the site of the medieval Downham Warren Lodge, the dwelling place of the rabbit warrener.
