A main road was shut and homes were left without power after a lorry brought down overhead power lines.

The 45-year-old lorry driver had to be freed by firefighters and was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital at Bury St Edmunds after the crash at about 3.30pm on Wednesday on the A1066 Thetford-Diss road at Rushford.

The driver was said to be in a stable condition.

The road was shut for several hours and EDF Energy engineers had to restore supplies to homes in Rushford.
