Skye Kerins, a year seven pupil at Mildenhall College Academy, held a Macmillan Coffee Morning at Lakenheath Bowls Club.

In the lead up to the event Skye designed and displayed posters around the village in order to raise awareness.

Cakes were either homemade or bought and some were donated by family and friends, along with tombola prizes.

The idea, organisation and running of the event was all done by the youngster.

It was the first time she had organised such an event and raised a total of £245 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The charity helps and supports those living with cancer and their families across the UK. There are currently 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK.

Skye said because of the positive response and generosity of the public she will hold a similar event in the future.
