Brandon has received a major boost with the news of the revival of one of Britain's major holiday home manu-facturers.

Omar Homes Group announced the loss of 160 jobs earlier this year after the London Road firm went into administration.

But community leaders are delighted after it emerged that a newly-created company, Omar Park Homes Ltd, had bought the long-established business.

The news means the manu-facturer is poised to create 140 jobs after announcing that it is resuming production at its Brandon HQ.

The former Omar Homes Group went into adminis-tration on March 2 after suffering cash flow difficulties and being unable to pay its creditors.

The business and assets were received by Tenon Recovery of London and Manchester, who, after receiving "substantial" inter-est from potential buyers, sold the intellectual rights, trade name and subsidiaries to a consortium of previous managers at Omar.

Omar Park Homes Ltd is headed by former owner Paul Pleszko and entrepreneur Tony Roach, who will look after the operational side.

A statement on the company website said Omar was delighted to be back in prod-uction. It added: "The Omar Homes Group had a long-standing history of designing and building park homes, lodges and holiday homes which were synonymous with quality, style and innovation.

"The new company will also be developing a new range of exciting products to comple-ment the existing range."

"The new company would like to thank all previous employees, customers, suppliers and Lloyds TSB Bank for their support over previous years, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.

"The new company is planning to create around 140 new jobs in the coming year which will be a much-needed boost to the town of Brandon."

Brandon county councillor Bill Bishop said: "It is fantastic news.

"I have spoken to several of the people who have been laid off and they are so pleased that they will be able to get back to work."

Omar has been trading since 1965 and generated an annual turnover of about 45m.

Jason Williams, corporate partner at Hewitsons law firm, which advised on the buyout, said: "We were able to pull out all the stops to ensure this deal went ahead despite the difficult economic climate we are currently facing."
