Bosses of Jeyes in Thetford has confirmed that the company was to close its Scottish factory in a move which will see production shifting to Norfolk.

The decision which sees the loss of 108 jobs followed a consultation into the future of the East Kilbride facility and the rejection of a counter proposal to keep some jobs in Scotland after the firm said the plan was uneconomic. The manufacturer of Jeyes Fluid, Boo, and Parozone announced in January that it was creating 51 new jobs in Thetford after investing £1m in the facility.

Jeyes said a detailed transfer plan would now be put in place to ensure a smooth transition of manufacturing from Kilbride to Norfolk, which would start in August and was likely to be completed by February.

In a statement the company said it would be offering help and support to employees looking for alternative employment.
