Hospital winning MRSA battle

A Suffolk hospital claims it is winning the war against MRSA after it reported no recorded cases of the superbug for more than six months.

Officials at the West Suffolk Hospital at Bury St Edmunds yesterday said its last MRSA bloodstream infection was in early December 2007, thanks to a rigorous programme of hygiene measures.

However, doctors at the NHS Trust said they would not be resting on their laurels and would continue to uphold their stringent infection control practices.
