Two new-look departments at the West Suffolk Hospital have been unveiled following a refurbishment.

Patients at the hospital in Bury St Edmunds are set to enjoy more modern and spacious facilities following the redesign of the pain clinic, which includes a new reception area, two consultation rooms and a two-bed treatment area. In addition, a quiet room has been added.

Officials from the NHS Trust say that the extra space means that clinics can be held five days a week, while acupuncture, counselling and interventional services are also on offer.

The new-look dermatology department has seen the phototherapy unit move from its old home in physiotherapy.

Jill Canning, general manager for medicine at the West Suffolk, said the new arrangement means that patients with skin conditions have more privacy to get changed before undergoing light treatment.

“These refurbished departments are offering our patients more modern and spacious facilities, making sure they get an improved service when they visit the hospital. We have already had some good feedback from patients using the departments and are pleased we can now offer them a more convenient service,” she said.
