A Suffolk hospice is planning its biggest charity walk ever to raise money towards its £4million annual running costs.

St Nicholas Hospice is holding the sponsored event, called the Springtime Stomp, at 11am on Sunday, April 27 with the choice of two locations - Euston Park, near Thetford, or East Town Park in Haverhill. At each site there will be two walks, a one mile bunny hop for children and toddlers and a three and a half mile course for more serious walkers.

Community fundraising manager, Michelle Gray, said: “This year we are extending our services into the community. Many people, given the choice, would prefer to die in the comfort of their own homes. Through our hospice at home initiative we hope to make this possible.

“We'll be working with doctors, nurses, social workers and other professionals to ensure that patients receive the highest quality care. We wouldn't be able to do this without the support of the local community which is why events like the Springtime Stomp are so important.”

A registered charity, the hospice is based at Bury St Edmunds. Its services are available throughout west Suffolk and Thetford at no charge.
