Hospice event cancelled

ST Nicholas Hospice Care and Arthur Rank Hospice fundraising teams have had to cancel this Sunday's True Grit event due to the snow and ice.

An inspection of the course at Wild Tracks, near Red Lodge, was undertaken yesterday morning by staff from both Hospices and two experienced off-road runners, who decided that the unexpected and treacherous icy conditions made it unsuitable for Sunday's challenge.

Jenny Baskett, St Nicholas Hospice Care's challenges and events fundraiser, said: “While we are naturally very disappointed about cancelling the event, the safety of our participants had to be paramount.”

The Hospices are in the process of contacting everyone who was due to take part but anyone who would like more information should contact the fundraising team directly on 01284 747611.
