A west Norfolk green was voted as one of the liveliest in the country thanks to a panel of judges.

Entrants were invited to send a picture and 50 words on why they thought their nominated village green was the liveliest to judges at law care company TruGreen and The Sunday Telegraph.

Great Hockham green was among four shortlisted - although narrowly missed out as overall winner to Cavendish in Suffolk.

Kate Ashbrook, general secretary of the Open Spaces Society, a partner in promoting the competition, said: “We are delighted at the standard of entries. Clearly there are some lively and fascinating greens out there.”
