ARTISTS and local groups in the Breckland area can claim grants of up to 500 to develop their skills or purchase equipment through a new scheme recently launched.

Designed to help both individual artists and groups in a practical way, the new Breckland Council Access Arts Fund will pay for specialist training relevant to an artist's practice or for professional equipment such as art materials, musical instruments or dance wear. Transport for an individual or group to attend or take part in a show could also be funded.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate why funding is needed and show how their bid links in with one of council's objectives.

Applications for the next grant panel should be submitted by November 28. Forms and guidance notes can be found on the Breckland Council website www.breckland.gov.uk/artsaccess or are available from Sam Dawson on 01362 656870, e-mail: sam.dawson@breckland.gov.uk
