A FORMER Suffolk police constable has admitted possessing more than a hundred images of child pornography.

Ian Reynolds, from Thetford, entered a guilty plea at Norwich Crown Court yesterday to a charge of possessing 120 indecent images of children.

He was in possession of the images at a time when he was still a serving police officer for Suffolk Constabulary.

Reynolds, 44, worked as an emergency response officer when he was taken into custody by officers from Suffolk’s professional standards department.

He was detained after an internal investigation team went to his home with a warrant giving them the power to search the address.

Reynolds, of Juniper Close, was arrested in March and questioned by police before being released on bail pending further inquiries. He had been due to stand trial in Norwich yesterday, but instead admitted possessing the 120 images between January 1, 2009, and March 15 this year.

The court heard that the images ranged across all five levels of seriousness, with level five being the most serious.

Judge Antony Bate agreed to adjourn the case until Tuesday, November 8, so reports can be drawn up by the Probation Service.

Reynolds, who resigned from Suffolk Constabulary in May, was released on unconditional bail.

It is understood Reynolds was based in Horringer, near Bury St Edmunds, at the time of his arrest,

It is also understood that Reynolds was arrested as part of an inquiry which began in the West Country. Suffolk police became involved after Gloucestershire Constabulary contacted them.
