FORCES sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn dropped in to Elveden to have lunch at the estate's caf� restaurant. Dame Vera, who is 92, was on her way to Mildenhall Museum, to lend her support to the museum's commemoration of the pivotal role that the Stirling bomber, played in support of the Allied Forces in the second world war.

Dame Vera, who is 92, was on her way to Mildenhall Museum, to lend her support to the museum's commemoration of the pivotal role that the Stirling bomber, played in support of the Allied Forces in the second world war.

Although between 5,000 and 6,000 Stirlings were active through the wWar years, none survive to this day.

Meanwhile two estate staff - Rosemary Flack and David King - received long service awards for 30 years work at Elveden. They were presented with their awards by the Duke of Kent at the Suffolk Show last week.
