Hundreds of children will be creating germs as part of an initiative to teach them about better food hygiene.

As part of Food Safety Week from June 7-11, Breckland Council staff will be visiting Norwich Road school in Thetford, Garboldisham Primary, Ashill Primary, Mileham Primary and Sporle Primary to do interactive education sessions.

The council's executive member for environment and recycling Lady Kay Fisher said: “There are around 120,000 extra cases of illness recorded across the UK when the weather is warmest and BBQs and eating outside become more frequent. Food poisoning is a miserable experience and so easily avoided. Just following simple steps in the kitchen can mean you don't become another food poisoning casualty.”
