A man has been fined £300 and branded a fly-tipper for moving furniture that was dumped on his property on to a public road.

The man, from Thetford, illegally moved the waste and left it in Pike Lane.

When spoken to by investigators he admitted moving the furniture but he could have avoided the fine by reporting the initial fly-tip to the council.

By placing it onto a public road he then committed a crime.

In a separate incident, a second man, also from Thetford, was issued with a £300 fine for dumping waste in the same area.

Councillor Alison Webb, executive member for housing, health and environment, said: "I am truly disappointed that the residents of Pike Lane have had to endure these incidents of selfish behaviour."
