FREE first aid training is being offered to voluntary and community organisations in Breckland.
Breckland Council's community development team is sponsoring free first aid training courses to voluntary and community organisations working in the district.
St John's Ambulance will be holding a basic first aid training course on February 9 at West Norfolk Mind in Swaffham.
The four hour session will teach everyday first aid skills and will also look at managing situations that require emergency intervention like a person who is choking, unconscious, bleeding and in shock.
Cat Lang, community development officer at Breckland Council, said: “Basic first aid training provides people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond effectively in an emergency situation until the emergency medical services arrive. Generally, there is a lack of awareness for the need for this type of training within the community at large, whether it is in public areas or in the workplace - or even at home. Being able to recognise signs and symptoms of a heart attack or a stroke for example; or perhaps how to manage choking in a responsive victim can save lives. I would urge as many groups as possible to take advantage of the free training day in February.”
