People will be able to access one-to-one advice on how to live healthily in Thetford.

The Health Trainer Service, funded by NHS Norfolk, will help people living in the town set their own health goals and reach them with special support.

This will include encouragement to stop smoking, drink less alcohol, and eat more healthily.

Six trainers recruited from the nearby area will work on a one-to-one basis with anyone who signs up for the free service and help keep them motivated.

Health coordinator for the Thetford area, Sarah Lynam, said the service was available for the over 16s and added: β€œIt could help people to make a significant lifestyle change and is here for anyone who is keen to change an aspect of their life but is looking for support to achieve their goal.

β€œI hope people visit us at the launch event to find out what makes the Health Trainer Service different to other services, as we could be the difference in helping you achieve your goal.”

People are invited to drop into the launch this Saturday at Thetford Methodist Church on Tanner Street between 10am and 3pm and will mark the beginning of the service.

The Health Trainer Service is already up and running in Kings Lynn with a Norwich service expected to be launched in the next few months.
