Partners in Thetford will crack down on antisocial behaviour over the Easter period.

Partners in Thetford will crack down on antisocial behaviour over the Easter period.

Historically, this time of year sees more complaints and in particular youth, driving and alcohol related incidents will be targeted.

Measures will include school assemblies outlining unacceptable behaviour, diversionary activities organised by Connexions on Raymond Street, warning notices to antisocial drivers, high visibility patrols and work with licensed premises.

Thetford Sgt Steve Burke said: “Thetford Safer Neighbourhood Team will be working closely with our partner agencies and the community to tackle issues of anti-social behaviour especially over the Easter period.

“Collectively we can reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage.”

Partner agencies who are involved in the Easter operation include Breckland Council, Children's Services and Thetford Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Mike Wilkinson from Children's Services said: “We have some equipment which we will make available to the young people to enjoy the open space of the common land.

“We will look at why they are where they are, what else would they do, as well as helping them to understand their responsibilities and their rights.

“We also hope to develop relationships with the communities and involve local people in helping to support these young people.”
