Visitors to High Lodge can learn more about the management of Thetford Forest during a discovery day event.
Organised by Friends of Thetford Forest, with support from the Forestry Commission (FC), the day provide people with an opportunity to see machinery and talk to the foresters.
People can learn about deer from the wildlife rangers and take part in family craft and archeology activities.
Owen Manson, the FC site recreation manager, said: “Thetford is our largest lowland pine forest and this is the chance for our visitors to find out more about the work the Forestry Commission does and how groups such as the Friends help in its management.”
Visitors will be able to plant a tree seedling and find out more about the new 4.2km trail which is under construction.
The trail is part of a project called Trailing the Hidden Heritage of High Lodge which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. As part of the project workshops to explore and research the history of the landscape re taking place.
The discovery day will be held on Sunday at High Lodge between 10am and 3pm. Normal site charges apply but discovery day events are free.
