DEMENTIA patients and their families will have access to more services when a new home opens in Thetford.
The Redgate House Care Home has taken over the former Abbeyfield building on Green Lane and will provide care for 13 residents.
This will include day and respite care. The home is privately owned by three business partners, Rachael Claxton, Linda Henden and Kevin Steward who identified a need in the town.
Ms Henden, manager of Redgate, said: “I've got a rapport with people with dementia and am used to caring for people with mental health problems.
“There's a real need in Thetford and we cater for over and under 65s.”
Redgate held a number of open days where professionals and members of the public could go along to find out more. Pam Spencer, Mayor of Thetford also paid a visit.
It has not yet been decided when the home will officially open.
