A decision to contract out the management of a refurbished building for the homeless has been made by Breckland Council.
John Room House in Thetford is in the process of being refurbished and extended and a decision was made by the council to tender for a provider for the management and supported housing services.
In 2008 it was decided by the cabinet to refurbish and redevelop John Room House with 10 self-contained units and 12 self-contained flats in a separate block for move-on accommodation.
In a report summarising its reasons for the contractor, Breckland Council's principle housing officer John Walker said: “Norfolk Supporting People has funding of 120,000 per annum to deliver housing support services at the hostel, and intend to contract the delivery of supported housing serviced to the 10 customers concerned, to commence delivery when the hostel reopens in early April 2010.
