THE Dad's Army museum in Thetford welcomed three special guests who took time to extol the virtues of the hit TV programme.

Steve Lily, an artist responsible for pencil drawings of many television shows, David Croft, Dad's Army writer, and lifelong Dad's Army fan Philip Cheatle all arrived at the museum on Cage Street on Saturday.

The museum already carries prints of Mr Lily's work and will now begin to carry original artwork.

Meanwhile, Mr Croft arrived to discuss the works, while Mr Cheatle's family took him on a surprise visit to the museum for his 79th birthday.

On Friday the Dad's Army museum will be open from 4pm in celebration of the switch on of Thetford's Christmas lights.
