A nurse has been inspired to organise a marathon charity fitness workout involving instructors and customers in memory of her father who died from skin cancer.
Dermatology nurse and Jazzercise instructor Sarah Kirk came up with the idea for the fund raising event that will take place at the Charles Burrell Centre in Thetford on May 5 to raise £5,000 for charity Skcin.
The high-energy non-stop three-hour workout will coincide with the start of Sun Awareness Week which runs from May 6–12.
Ms Kirk, who father Bill Smith died of a preventable skin melanoma aged 61, said: “One in 54 people are diagnosed with melanoma during their lifetime - yet 86pc of all skin cancer cases are preventable and ignorance regarding how to spot the early signs remains widespread.
“I want to turn my dad’s death into a positive and, in his memory, I became ambassador for registered charity Skcin. I am also a Jazzercise instructor in my spare time and wanted to involve my colleagues and customers in a fundraising project.”
