POLICE in Thetford will clamp down on cyclists riding through the town.

POLICE in Thetford will clamp down on cyclists riding through the town.

The Thetford Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) will issue £30 fines to those breaking the rules in the No Cycling Zone after people living in the area asked officers to address the issue.

This is now one of the team's three priorities until its next meeting in three months time.

The other priorities are to target antisocial behaviour near Fulmerston Church and to continue to target alcohol-related antisocial behaviour on Painter Street.

Over the past three months the NPT has carried out high visibility patrols in Fir Road in a bid to tackle skateboarding, addressed antisocial behaviour on the play area between Harriet Martineau Close and Hill House Lane, and began to target bad behaviour on Painter Street.
