Firefighters have tackled a large crop on the Elveden Estate.
In total 15 appliances from both Suffolk and Norfolk Fire and Rescue Services attended the blaze, which started at 10.24am.
It affected a 25 acre area of a straw field, managed by the estate, outside of Elveden off the B1106.
Group Commander Wil Tel, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said: “We now have the incident under control. In the initial stages there was a large column of smoke.
“The crews here worked really hard to bring it under control. At one point we were in danger of it jumping into another field but we managed to stop it.
“We have some overhead power lines here as well which have us conditional concerns.
“But all in all we have had 15 appliances here and are colleagues from Norfolk have been assisting us.”
As the fire was brought under control, some crews left the scene to attend a fire in Moulton, close to Newmarket.
Group Commander Tel added: “It is challenging and we are monitoring the welfare of crews carefully. As a service these are challenging conditions but there are challenging conditions across the country.
“A message of reassurance to the public, we are in a very busy spell and these are exceptional circumstances. As a service we are responding to all incidents that we are receiving and we are moving our rescores around strategically to cope with the demand.”
