Wayland Radio is broadcasting from studios at Ashill to up to 25,000 people in the Swaffham and Watton areas on 105FM from Friday for 27 days.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, and jingles through the day are in store as a community radio station goes back on air in the run-up to Christmas.

Wayland Radio is broadcasting from studios at Ashill to up to 25,000 people in the Swaffham and Watton areas on 105FM from Friday for 27 days.

More than 400 hours of programmes are lined up and produced and presented by the station's growing team of community volunteers.

Wayland Radio project manager David Hatherly said: “Christmas is a time for giving and Wayland Radio is giving our community a unique gift this season, a stage to tell stories, air opinions and to comment and talk about local issues. I just can't wait to hear our listeners and contributors on-air talking about what is of interest to them.”

Along with the chat the station will also broadcast a mix of music to suit all tastes and ages, specialist and themed music shows, youth, community and cultural programmes, news, sport and a Portuguese language programme.

This is Wayland Radio's fifth restricted service licence broadcast (RSL) in as many years and its second this year, having been on-air over Easter.

It is also expected to be its last RSL as Wayland Radio has recently applied to Ofcom for a full-time licence to broadcast without restriction.

If the application is successful the radio station will be licensed for five years and it is hoping that it can begin broadcasting sometime in the New Year.

If you are interest in getting involve with Wayland Radio as a community volunteer, you do not need to have any previous experience as training will be given, or if would like to contribute to the programming with advertising or sponsorship Wayland Radio would like to here from you.
