Chinese delegates learned more about the region’s tax collection system when they visited Thetford.
The 20 directors from Municipal Tax Bureaus within the Jiangsu Province took a fact-finding tour of Anglia Revenues Partnership (ARP) to learn more about Britain’s taxation system.
The visit, organised by Sino-UK Link, a British-based organisation which promotes and assists exchanges between China and the UK, allowed the delegates to learn more about the structure and responsibilities of the UK’s central and local taxation departments, factors that affect tax rates and the nation and local approach to assessing risk.
They also learnt more about the British council tax system.
Member of the ARP’s joint committee and executive member for internal services, William Smith, said: “Obviously people look at problems from different perspectives and getting a new perspective on a problem is very helpful.”
The ARP is a group of four local authorities working together to provide a shared service to the people of Breckland Council, East Cambridgeshire District Council, Forest Heath District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
