A CHARITY shop selling second hand goods to raise money for Norfolk's YMCA has opened in Thetford.

YMCA Norfolk's chief executive Tim Sweeting was present at the new shop, on Kings Street.

YMCA Shop Support Manager, Julie Hutchinson, said: “We have stocked the shop through very generous donations from supporters across the Thetford and Diss area and will have a great range of goods on offer from furniture to clothes, books and bric-a-brac.

“A manager and assistant manager have been appointed to run the shop and we are appealing for volunteer helpers to assist once open.

“We require volunteers in all areas of the shop to help with sorting or selling goods. If people are interested they can just drop into the shop and ask for a volunteer application form.

“We will also need donations to restock which can either be taken direct to the shop or furniture and larger items and loads will be collected by our van driver.

“We are grateful for all support from the community and are looking forward to meeting the needs of people in Thetford which in turn will help us support vulnerable young people in this community and across Norfolk.”

The YMCA already has shops in King's Lynn, Diss and Hunstanton.
