PEOPLE in Thetford are being urged to get into the Christmas spirit by donating to a nearby charity shop for as little as £1.

The British Heart Foundation shop on Minstergate appealed for people to visit the shop before yesterday and buy a raffle ticket for £1 to be in with a chance of winning a luxury hamper.

And for those with larger items to donate, the shop is also urgently appealing for good quality furniture and electrical items.

The luxury hamper is full of festive items including mince pies, sparkling wine, and rosemary sprinkled cheddar cheese straws. Mayor of Thetford Pam Spencer will visit the shop to draw the charity's annual Christmas hamper on December 22.

To donate or buy a ticket visit the shop on Minstergate or call 0844 4994 185. Collection of larger items is free.
