A THETFORD solicitors' office has celebrated 225 years of practice by raising hundreds of pounds for charity.
Staff from Metcalfe Copeman and Pettefar organised various fundraising events for the charity Help For Heroes. A total of nearly 1,500 was raised by the Thetford office.
One of the events held was a balloon race from Thetford's King Street. Clients, staff and members of the public bought tickets that were then attached to the balloons, and the person whose balloon travelled the furthest won 100. The winner was Alan Sizeland of Thetford.
“It was a terrific day, said Andrew Davies, managing partner of the Thetford office. “People have been so generous.

“We released more than 200 balloons on the day. Expecting returns from around Norfolk and Suffolk we never thought that some of the balloons would reach mainland Europe.
“In fact, we only had five returns but they all came from Belgium and Germany. Plotting them on a map you can see they travelled over the North Sea and landed in virtually a straight line all the way to near Frankfurt. Nearly 300 miles! Amazing.”
