MORE than 4,000 was raised for charity during the Household Cavalry's annual camp open day at Bodney earlier this month.

The mounted regiment is taking its annual holiday at the camp near Watton and every year it invites the public in for a day.

This year saw more than 6,500 attend the event.

Lieutenant Colonel Crispin Lockhart said: “I am very pleased that so many people chose to come along and support the men, women and the horses of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.

“We are looked after very well by the local community and it is great to have an opportunity to show them what we can do.

“I look forward to seeing many of them again at the open day next year.”

Money raised from the day will go to the British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association (BLESMA) and the Household Cavalry's operational casualties fund.

A separate collection during the open day by the Ghurkha Welfare Trust raised a further 400.
