Breckland Free School meeting
PUBLISHED: 16:15 11 January 2012
A meeting will be held later this month to bring parents up to date with the progress of a free school application in Brandon.
The evening will also provide information about how to apply for places at Breckland Free School and recently appointed principle designate Sherry Zand will be on hand to talk about her vision, including uniform, start times and future GCSE subject choices.
A final decision on whether the school can go-ahead is expected from the Department for Education this week. If granted permission it would replace Breckland Middle School which is due to close in July this year.
Late last year an education provider - Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) UK, the British arm of a private profit-making Swedish company which runs chains of free schools in Sweden - was appointed.
Manager of IES UK, Jodie King, said: “We believe that we have found in Sabres Educational Trust a team of highly committed and mission driven individuals who share our philosophy.
“If approved, there is much to do to before the School opens next autumn but our professional team is excited by the challenge. We intend to deliver a school which the Brandon community can be truly proud of.”
The meeting will be held at Breckland Middle School, Brandon, on January 19 at 7pm.
