Thetford Cricket Club invited a district councillor to visit the club and see what difference a £9,000 grant has made.

The club has achieved successive promotions within the Norfolk Cricket Alliance and are now competitive in Division One.

A new junior team has been established and fundraising by members, families and supporters improved facilities including a new clubhouse.

The club bought a batting cage and covers with a recent grant of £9,000 from Breckland Council’s Outdoor Sport and Play Fund.

Paul Claussen, Breckland Council executive member for place, said: “I’d like to thank club president John Mayes for inviting me to visit and meet the team.

“It was very rewarding to learn what a difference our grant has made to the club and to see the covers in use. The team has made remarkable progress in recent years and I am sure that this is set to continue.”
